Game Design
Screen ShotSticky Geckos is a game developed in 48 hours for the 48 Hour Game Development Competition held for the Next Level Festival at the Kelvin Grove Community hub, right next to QUT's Creative Industries Precinct in Brisbane. The aim of the competition was to create a game within 48 hours designed around 3 words which were presented to all 4 teams at the beginning of the 48 hours.

At 6pm on Friday the 26th, the three words were announced on stage. The words were: Lizard, Boat, and Robot.

The long night aheadAfter hearing the words we walked back to our working area beers in hand and prepared for the long night ahead...

The game was completed and tested by the judges through the use of an Xbox 360 controller in dual analogue setup, however, only the keyboard and mouse version is available for download.

How to play?

The aim of the game is to keep the ship afloat whilst racking up as many points as you can by shooting lizards at it from the hovering robot. Try to keep your boat afloat, but watch out; it gets harder to keep it balanced once you are earning more points!

Controls

Keyboard: A - Move left, D - Move right, M - Quit

Mouse: Control target point, Click to shoot lizards!

Notes & Thanks

We must thank the developers of the ExperimentalGameplayFramework for using their framework as a starting point, and also all the organisers for keeping our area pretty clean, removing old noodle water and the such.

And of course thanks to Jane (truna) for all the organisation and being so enthusiastic about games.

Also thanks to the judges, was great to hear your words of encouragement and for choosing us as the winners.
